Courage Grants – Before You Apply

The Courage Grants programs provide grants for programming and engagement for nonprofit organizations with a 501c(3) tax-exempt status that have operated for at least three years. 

Eligible organizations:

  • Have a tax-exempt status under IRS Section 501c(3)
  • Have been in operation for at least three years;
  • Provide services to individuals in the community JKFFC serves;
  • Align with one of our focus areas of prevention, education, awareness, or research.
2023 Focus Areas of Support
Prevention – nonprofit organizations that reduce Interpersonal violence (IPV) through prevention and intervention processes, programs, and activities of healthy, respectful, nonviolent relationships.
Education – nonprofit organizations that focus on helping all youth and young adults (especially those in underserved communities) develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to have and maintain healthy relationships and identify the warning signs of abuse.
Awareness – nonprofit organizations that address prevention efforts that increase knowledge of healthy, respectful, nonviolent relationships.

JKFFC will not consider grant requests for the following:
  • For-profit organizations
  • Capital Campaigns or general operating expenses
  • Individuals or families, including funds raised to benefit a single person or family
  • Political candidates, parties, campaigns, or causes
  • Faith-based organizations or religious groups
  • Clubs, groups, and organizations within a school (booster clubs, athletics, PTO/PTA, organizations)
  • Nonprofit organizations operating outside of North and South Carolina
  • Groups that discriminate based on race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, national origin, disability, veteran status or other legally protected status.
The application period is from June 1, 2023, to July 31, 2023. Applications will be reviewed in July, and notifications will be made in early August 2023. Once applications are reviewed, applicants will be notified by email.
